Maternity - Pre Admission

ANTENATAL CLASSES
Antenatal classes are held at Cairns Private Hospital. More information is available on request through the Maternity Unit. Contact us early in your pregnancy to book into these classes during office hours between 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday.

WHAT TO BRING?

• Antenatal record
• Casual clothes for day wear
• Night attire (dressing gown, slippers)
• Nursing bra, nursing pads
• Pants, adhesive sanitary pads
• Usual toiletries, cosmetics, watch, pen, hairdryer
• Clothes to take baby home – nappy, singlet, nightie, shawl or bunny rug, bonnet, booties
• Patient Pathway
• Regular medication
• Special CDs/Aromatherapy oils

WHEN TO COME TO HOSPITAL?

Please telephone theWomen’s Health Unit before coming to Hospital. Our midwife on duty will be able to advise you when it is necessary for you to come in. It is important to contact us on (07) 4052 5232 if you experience any of the following:

• Ruptured membranes or continuous leaking of fluid
• Bright bleeding
• Regular contractions
• Premature labour
