For Patients: Your Admission
Your Admission
On arrival to Cairns Private Hospital you are asked to check in at the Front Reception Desk. Our admission staff will welcome you and confirm necessary and personal details.
Please bring your:
- Medicare Card
- Health Fund documentation
- Compensation details of your treatment if related to a Workers Compensation or Third Party claim
- Pension, pharmaceutical benefits, concession or Veterans Affairs card
- Referral letters or relevant X-rays
- A supply of any medications you are currently taking
- Glucometer, if you are diabetic and have your own.
The admission staff will ask you to sign forms necessary to claim from your health fund. If you have any queries about your fund coverage the admission staff will be happy to help. It can be difficult to know what to bring when coming to hospital. To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible you should bring the following:
- Night attire, dressing gown, slippers
- Loose comfortable clothing to wear when you go home
- Personal toiletries (toothpaste and toothbrush, soap, deodorant, hair brush/comb, tissues)
- Glasses, hearing aids or other prosthetic aids
- A book/magazine to keep you occupied when you are feeling better and a small amount of loose change for incidentals
To ensure a worry free stay with us we strongly recommend that jewellery and other valuables be left at home, and that you limit the cash you bring with you. Our provision for safe custody is limited and we are unable to accept responsibility for items brought in with you.
